Umpqua Collectibles was born from a simple idea. What if one person could help a community grow?
I started with Magic: The Gathering. I had been playing since I was 10 years old, born and raised right here in the Umpqua Valley, and I watched our local scene go through its ups and downs over the years. I wanted to do something about it. So I did.
What I did not expect was what came next.
A year in, I am not just watching the Magic community grow. I am watching collectors of all kinds find each other. Sports cards, Pokemon, comics, retro games, custom art. Communities I never planned to serve are finding a home through what we are building, and that has changed everything about what Umpqua Collectibles is becoming.
The support this valley has shown us has been humbling. I knew we would find our footing. I did not know how quickly, or how big it would feel.
That is what community first actually means to us.
It means big prize pools at events because the players deserve it. It means giveaways, accessible pricing, and creating places for people to just show up and connect. It means running events not to extract value from a community but to put value back into it. We want to see people find their people, whatever that looks like for them.
Because here is what I know about the Umpqua Valley: we run deep. No matter how niche your hobby feels, no matter how specific your corner of the collecting world is, your people are here. You just need a place to find them.
That is what we are building.
Three years from now, if everything goes right, Umpqua Collectibles is running three events a year. A spring show, a summer show, and a two day Expo that they both feed into. We are helping local shops run tournaments. We are growing something that did not exist before and did not have to come from anywhere but here.
We are just a small town kid with a dream and a community that showed up bigger than we ever imagined.
